About The Aegean Greek Islands
The Aegean Islands are also referred to as the North East Aegean islands or the Eastern Sporades. The group is made up of some 12 islands of which the 7 detailed here are the most popular. The others are more or less deserted or so under-developed and lacking in transport connections as to be impractical for regular travel.
The Aegean Islands are geographically the furthest away from the Greek mainland and hug the western Turkish coastline.
Inter-island ferry connections between the Aegean islands group is a little disjointed but there are regular ferries from Piraeus, Athens, which service the islands directly. Some of the larger islands also have domestic airports with regular flights from AIA.
Samos, one of the largest and a popular tourist destination, has an international airport.
For people looking to buy property on an island in this group there is a good choice from populous, or the deserted, more rural islands to investigate.
