GENERAL IMPRESSIONS: Mountain range dominates, only Greek spoken, Goat Skins, Thermal Baths, haphazard. Mythology assured the island's place in the legends as Ikaria is reputed to be the final landing place of Icarus after his disastrous attempt to flee from the Minos of Crete using wings made from feathers and wax that melted when he was said to have flown too close to the sun.
