In recent years, environmental controls have reduced the amount of pollution in this busy city, and the Olympics hosted by Athens in 2004, brought about a face lift that extended city wide. Not only have the buildings been cleaned and the roads improved but it now boasts a metro, bus and tram system for excellent travel connections.
